Rue and Katie Shumate have been operating Shumate Automotive on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights, Virginia since 1997.
Rue has been in the automotive repair business for 26 years. He is an ASE™ Certified Master Technician, the highest certification ASE™ gives.
You will find Katie in the office every day managing the business and supervising appointments.
Shumate Automotive offers expert ASE™ Trained Technicians in all vehicle makes and models, foreign and domestic. The Technicians at Shumate Automotive are trained in hybrid vehicle repair and maintenance. They offer full service repair and state inspections for motorcycles, too.
Shumate Automotive is a Green, Environmentally Friendly Business. They recycle EVERYTHING...motor oil, anti freeze, right down to the metal cans. They value our environment and do everything they can to protect it.
Giving Back to the Community...
Rue Shumate is a hometown guy...growing up in Colonial Heights (not far from his shop location). Both he and Katie are very involved in their community and give back using their time and talents.
Shumate Automotive participates every Christmas in the "Prince George Elf Helpers" program. Over the years they have raised thousands of dollars and purchased hundreds of toys for less fortunate children in the area.
Rue is a member of the Air Force Association..."The Force Behind the Force"...as a community partner. The mission of the AFA is to educate the public about the importance of aerospace power in the defense of our nation; to advocate for aerospace power and a strong national defense; and to support the United States Air Force and the Air Force Family. They participate in school projects, Teacher of the Year programs and sending children to Space Camp.
Every Veteran's Day, Rue and his son, Hunter, place 300-500 American flags on the graves of veterans at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia, in appreciation for their service to our country.
Shumate Automotive is the consultant for the Army at Ft. Lee regarding Virginia motor vehicle laws for state inspections; where all stickers should be placed on vehicles and any other laws regarding vehicle operation.
Rue and Katie Shumate recognize the importance of sports activities in the lives of children. They are supporters of Colonial Heights High School athletic programs and League teams as well.
